In recent years child marriage has gained increasing prominence on international and national development agendas. Today, we have a unique opportunity to act on this momentum and accelerate our efforts to help change the lives of girls and young women all over the world.
Girls Not Brides has developed a Theory of Change to demonstrate the range of approaches needed to address child marriage, and crucially highlight that everyone has a role to play. The Theory of Change stresses the importance of long-term, sustainable interventions that are coordinated, well-resourced and the result of shared learning.
Imagine the life those girls — who are 7, 10 or even 16 years of age — endure. Child brides have a diminished chance of completing their education and are at a higher risk of being physically abused, contracting HIV and other diseases, and dying while pregnant or giving birth.
We at Gautam Buddha Sewa Samiti are helping the society to prevent the child marriages by using some strategies like below:
1) Empower girls with information, skills and support networks.
2) Provide economic support and incentives to girls and their families.
3) Educate and rally parents and community members.
4) Enhance girls' access to a high-quality education and
5) Encourage supportive laws and policies.
Gautam Buddha Sewa Samiti provides amazing services within the community helping create change in the lives of all those impacted by domestic violence. I fell happy to join the Society by spending our some free time.
